Japan 2018/2019 Trip Part 1 : Sushi and Shinjuku Gyoen
Apologies for no updates over two weeks, I was back in Japan with my girlfriend for our long awaited 3rd trip and did not have time to blog. Pictured above was our first meal, sushi at Sushi Uogashi Nihonichi in Asakusabashi which was where we stayed.
While not rated highly on tabelog, we really liked the temperature of the sushi.
We've been to so many sushi places in Melbourne trying to find something close to the freshness of Japan and we've always been disappointed and hour wallets lighter.
I would not purposely seek out Uogashi to eat there but I would not mind eating there if I came across it. We've resigned ourselves to no more fresh sushi until we get back to Japan.
Next day went to Shinjuku Gyoen and lo and behold there were some autumn leaves (kouyou) left!
I was expecting plenty of empty trees and certainly did not expect lots of green and colours.
Can't imagine how beautiful it must have looked a month ago at full autumn glory.
Was it because of the hotter than usual summer that left a lot of the leaves intact?
Absolutely stunning.
We also went early which meant a lot less people getting in the way of photos.
Shinjuku Gyoen greenhouse.
Next stop after Shinjuku Gyoen was Marui Annex where we ran into the Godzilla store.
Didn't buy anything cause I'm not a Godzilla guy.
The main reason I was here was for Surugata, this chain hobby shop which is great for retrogaming.
Trying to find the exact cost of Langrisser Tribute. Loot pictures to come in separate post at the end.
Goods for Psycho Pass.
Dinner at Coco Ichi. Coming up next, Anata no Warehouse in Kawasaki.
hi mike, welcome back! i had a feeling u went on a trip since there were no updates for a while. were there lots of tourist around at this time of year in japan? eat anywhere else special?
ReplyDeleteoooo the godzilla store, i remember watching that in an episode of Why Did You Come to Japan.
last year when i went with my wife, we were surprised at the large amount of tourists everywhere. tried coco ichi for the first time and we both loved it. funnily enough, we did not eat sushi at all during our trip. tried some wagyu though at this small restaurant in kyoto.
she loved the trip to japan and didnt want it to end. is your girlfriend also a japanophile?
Beautiful photos. Looking forward to seeing more.
ReplyDelete@dgundam : I think there are always tourists in Japan though I don't think its peak season. Yes we went to some special places but you'll have to wait to find out and yes my partner is really into Japan.
