Anyway, Saigo no Restaurant set in this restaurant where business is not doing well and the chef likes to run away from problems. One by one, famous people start being transported to restaurant right before their death and the chef has to fulfill their request and give them their last meal.
Saigo no Restaurant wasn't that entertaining as its more like a light historical lesson with food thrown into it. I planned only watch until episode 4 for Trendl Reina's Joan of Arc but luckily her character stayed on in the show.
The main parts about linking the food requests to the famous people doesn't really work for me but at least since the episodes are only 30 minutes, its tolerable. For example, Cleopatra's request was for a dish equivalent to her pearl. So when she rejected the first ice cream they gave her, the chef made her eat something very hot first before serving the same ice cream to make it taste better.
Sad to say Mayuko doesn't have much to do. Its the type of role that's usually left to a gravure idol.
Better to give a small, thankless role to someone who can act than someone who can't.
I'm wondering why the role wasn't given to an idol for ratings purposes but my guess is Mayuko gets to do more than look cute later on.
I'm on this bus as long as Reina is in the show though the preview for the next episode looks like she might be leaving. :(
finally got around to watching this to see what all this hubub about treindl was lol.
ReplyDeletedid u watch the final 2 episodes mike?
in episode 7 did treindl die when she went back to the past? i couldnt understand what was written in the letter she sent them.
in the final episode, i didnt see that twist coming. does that mean this whole time she was dying starting from episode 1?
it was a meh show. the acting was annoying but i guess someone out there thought that it was a good idea to combine food and history.
on another note, for some reason i tried watching itsuwari no hanazono from raredramas unfortunately it had no subs, but it was understandable and i could figure out some of the things they were saying. i guess i like the makjang summary when i read it thats why i got it. lets just say that wow its the first time ive seen a long jdrama (65 20 minute episodes) thats pretty makjang (a korean term for a sylistic, tonal, or narrative element in dramas that chooses to play up outrageous storylines to keep viewers hooked despite how ridiculous the stories become adultery, revenge, rape, birth secrets, fatal illness, and flirting with incest possibilities). i did not know japan can do these types of shows lol. itsuwari pretty much had all of that except for the fatal illness part.
suffice it to say i was hooked. its like the type of daily dramas that middle aged korean women love watching lol.
I always find Reina a quandary.
ReplyDeleteIn her lead roles she never fully controls the screen like a lead. However, her supporting character roles are amazing and you wonder why she is not a lead.
For some reason, she never quite transitions to become the centre of gravity that everyone and everything revolves around - even when not on screen. Even young leads have that knack that they feel like the atmosphere in that world.
