Japan trip 2024 day 20: Tokyo Game Show pt 1

It is never too early to go Makuhari Messe for TGS. It took forever to get out of the train station because of how packed it was.

Got this Falcom uchiwa fan outside the station! I could feel the excitement starting.

I see Ryu, Elden Ring, Shadow, Metaphor and 2B.

Map of the halls. I just looked for the Sega booth and decided I was going straight there.

Microsoft spent some money on advertising. They should spend money on supporting exclusive games like back in the 360 days instead of just buying up companies.

No idea what this game is.

Had to queue for an hour to slowly get in.

Finally at the entrance and everyone was asked to raised their hand to show the green bracelet pass.

Finally in!

Majima ni-san! He has gone from head of Majima kensetsu to a pirate. Not sure if that is an upgrade.

Giant statue of Shadow.

Persona 5.

Metaphor cosplayer.

Giant Fatal Fury booth. At this time I was wondering where were the goods? I should have done my research and realised that the goods were at a different place in Halls 11+12.

Good on SNK for going all out.

I am definitely going to support them.

On my way to where the merchandise was going sold. I wasted too much time at the main stages.

Finally arrived at merch hall. Not happy to see Grapht because I don't like their Street Fighter stuff.

Finally lining up for the Sega merch!

Sega goods. You get a piece of paper which lists everything and then you tick what you want and give it to the people at the counter.

Nearly there!

OMG, Metal Gear Solid hoodie which I got. So happy with it!

Cospa store.

Fatal Fury shirts and is Shiki is the most marketable character from Samurai Spirits? So cool to see merch from old games.

I want everything!

That black Sonic shirt on the left is very nice.

I like the Yorha shirts because only people who played Nier Automata know what they mean and they don't look like gaming shirts.

Unicorn Overlord Elf t-shirt. I must be strong because I do not any t-shirts of beautiful elves.

Very cool King of Fighters shirt with Kusanagi Kyo's eclipse motif at the back. This TGS is overflowing with cool t-shirt designs.

This I adore. Kyokugen-ryu t-shirt aka the fighting style of Ryo from Art of Fighting.

They even have stuff for Fallout fans.

Cammy and Juri figures. What about Ryu, Ken and Guile?

Monster Hunter.

Capcom store. I already have some SF6 acrylic stands pre-ordered and funny enough they were not selling the ones I pre-ordered.

Walking by the Square Enix shop and they were playing the Final Fantasy IX music from the vinyl. I love that game so much.

WTF is this?

All the Sega goods.

Kojima Productions had their own shop.

Who wants their own Kojima Hideo figure?

Have not touched Death Stranding.

TorchTorch, makers of expensive t-shirts for games that I really love. They did not have the Sekiro gishu t-shirt which I regretted not buying last trip.

I will get this whenever it comes out.

Can't wait to see it painted.

Supposed to come out 2026 I think and will cost me an arm and a leg but it looks so beautiful.

Everyone's favourite witch Rani from Elden Ring.

I don't think I will be getting this.

Japan day 19: Last Mile Jmovie review

Wow up to see Mitsushima Hikaru and Kyonkyon on TV! This scene was from Kangoku no Ohimesama and the program was talking about their relationship as Kyonkyon was producing something that Mitsushima Hikari was on.

Now I remember, Mitsushima Hikari was doing a stage reading from a script by Sakamoto Yuji and Kyonkyon was a producer! If I had known that I could have seen Mitsushima Hikari on stage, I would have spent a lot of money to make sure I was there! It felt like the jdorama gods were telling me to watch something with Mitsushima Hikari in it....

I never ran into Berserk Ichibankuji anywhere so looked up the website for list of Lawsons that did it and there was one in Akihabara but no Berserk. Looks like it sold out long time ago and it seems like scalpers bought up all the Berserk kuji and the only tickets left are from the online store.

Had to print tickets for TGS.  What I did was download this Seven Eleven copy app on my phone, upload my ticket pdf which gave me a barcode to scan on the copy machine in 7/11. Put in some coins and bob's your uncle! So nice and easy.

Prime 1 2B statue. Magnificent. Wish I had the space and money.

I never knew I needed a bookend in my life. I remember looking at the Trilogy Box years ago thinking the price is absolutely crazy. Now it is even crazier and I am a big FromSoft fan now. One day I will sit down and finish Dark Souls 3.

Had some ebi at katsuya for lunch.

Headed to Orinas Shopping Mall in Kinshicho because the Toho cinema was there.

I went to see Last Mile. I knew nothing about the movie except seeing the poster with Mitsushima Hikari in it.

I was given this sticket when I went in and did not even glance at it but you can see that they have Unnatural and MIU, two TBS jdoramas and I have seen Ishihara Satomi's Unnatural. This movie, Last Mile is basically set in the TBS universe! lol I had come to Japan hoping to see the Oi Handsome! movie and TBS have created their answer to the MCU. As long as they don't do stupid multiverse stuff, I am fine.

Well what is Last Mile about? It is about Amazon Japan which the movie calls Daily Fast. One day, boxes delivered from Daily Fast start exploding and killing people. Mitsushima Hikari is the new boss of the warehouse who has to figure out how the explosives are getting into their stock and being delivered and she is being assisted by Okada Masaki. Last Mile is race against the clock, find out who the terrorist is suspense movie.

Abe Sadawo plays the boss of the delivery company and Dean Fujioka is the Japan boss for Daily Fast. The most impressive thing about Last Mile is the distribution warehouse set.

I have watched and read a lot of stuff about how Amazon works so the answer to how the terrorist was able to get their explosives mixed in was very obvious. Still it was a fun movie as they pieced together the clues and there is the story about this employee who committed suicide a few years ago.

Unnatural and MIU show up but they are just cameos. I like the ending, they made it exciting. I would summarise Last Mile as if you know stuff about Amazon warehouses, this is the movie one would make with that knowledge. Watchable.

Does Kodoku no Gurume deserve a movie?

Went to Ikinari Steak to eat some angus beef lol.

Forgot to tell Micchan about this Okinawa Festival at Marui Kinshicho.

I was still hungry and because KFC had the this garlic shoyu chicken I had to try it and get the tabekurabe (eat to compare) set. You get one regular chicken and one ninniku shoyu chicken and boy were the two chicken pieces super juicy. I rather like the garlic soy chicken and I wish you could order two garlic soy chickens for the same price but I could not swap the regular to garlic soy so I would have had to create my own meal which turned out to be more expensive.

So happy we have finally broken the 5TB limit for portable HDDs after so many years! For some reason it is so much cheaper to buy this in Australia. Now I can store all my jdoramas in one portable HDD but with a lot of jdoramas at 2.5GB per episode, that extra TB would not last long.

One of these gentlemen is in the news every single day in Japan. Japan is very proud of both of them.

Got 2 streetpasses!

Ishiba going to be PM of Japan on 4th attempt or was it 5? I will not say anything about how nothing has happened with the uragane (secret funds) problem.
